Just One Question..... Why?

Out of all the things in this world, there is one thing i do not get: people misusing the word "LOVE". For a typical example, people getting engaged when not only they barely see each other, BUT never met each other! Its stupid! Its a waste of time and air. If you never gonna see each other, ITS NOT GOING TO WORK. For example, my *USED TO BE* friend said he would date me when he lives closer. Though he said that, he's engaged now to a girl that dont even too far from me! and still lives in the same area he said was too far away from me! OMG HOW STUPID TO LIE. They never met each other. They DO NOT even know the WORD LOVE MEANS! I don't even know what the word LOVE means! The world has gone insane..... or is it me? That is the QUESTION.
